Here's a second fan art piece for the awesome game Kerbal Space Program after this one - [link] . I worked on this one really slowly during the past several months and finally got to finish it. Hope you like it!
Also you can download it in two versions (with and without Jebediah in the lower right corner) as a 1920x1080 wallpaper for your desktop - feel free to use and share, but try to credit me though ;)

Probably happened during stage separation

Great work! The detail of the parts as well the effects of the lights and sparks are really sharp and seem right for something moving this fast. I'm an avid KSP player, and sometimes its moments like this that make the game.

I want to take that little jeb pic and put it on a bumper sticker that says "Jebediah is my copilot" next to it.

This is how all of my planes end up doing at some point.

Damn fine spacecraft you got there, even if it is in the process of an (ahem) unscheduled rapid deconstruction. Very very cinematic. I like it very much. Though... I wonder how this would have gotten into orbit. This is an atmospheric model. I guess Rule of Cool applies here.

Love the little Jebediah picture down there. He would be smiling!

That's one of Kerbal Space Program's stock SSTO space planes. I think it's called "Aeris A-1" or something like that. It has one liquid fuel rocket engine and two turbofan engines, 4 radial intakes and 2 ram intakes. Can get to orbit with enough fuel left to de-orbit and fly a few km back to the runway if your glide path is off.

No kidding. Never went with SSTOs. Very difficult to build, especially without RAPIER Engines. Always boosted my planes into orbit.

Tbh, Rapier engines don't make it any easier. The Aeris 4A performs pretty much the same wether you use rapiers or turbojets + rocket. Rapiers only have 175 thrust or so.
